Red Spot
There have been a lot of theories about this shirt. The red spot seems to clearly be representing Target, the stores. But why the steamboat? The choice of the red rings is clearly intentional with the red ringer tee, but why the steamboat? Target isn't like a southern thing.
I think the most likely scenario was that someone separately printed the steamboat design around the "Red Spot" after purchasing the shirt. Its custom. The drawing is well rendered, my favorite part is definitely the steam itself pouring out from the smokestacks. I wonder why someone, if they were going to take the time to design their own drawing, made it to fit around the existing logo, instead of just printing it on another shirt. It would probably look strange with the blank space in the middle if it was printed on a blank tee. Because its not a particularly thrilling or elucidating juxtaposition, the logo, text, and drawing.
The fabric is well worn on this shirt, its a bit transparent. Got it at the Salvation army on Mass Ave outside Central Square in Cambridge.
